Margin

General term for the collateral or funds charged by Clearing Houses (or other counterparties) to cover the default risk of a counterparties trade or portfolio of trades.  Margin tends to be called in the form of liquid collateral (cash or bonds).  Forms of Margin requirements are Initial Margin (IM) and Variation Margin (VM).
